I am able to work what I want to or need to, and choose to not drive when I can't
I started driving when my full-time job became a part-time position. At the same time, my daughter was diagnosed with autism and required additional assistance. App-based driving provided the stability for me to earn an income with both jobs while still working around my daughter's scheduling needs. As an independent contractor, I am able to work what I want to or need to, and choose to not drive when I can't. If we lose the independent contractor flexibility, I would lose my driving part-time income, as I could not work a set schedule around my family's needs and my primary day job which would mean I'd have to support my family of four on a minimum wage, part-time income. And that is why I support the initiative to protect app-based drivers and services.
